“Sustainability” has become one of the most commonly heard catch phrases in farming. After
121 years of growing lemons, the Limoneira Company has learned that
Sustainable Rule No. 1 is making a profit.
Without profit, a farmer can’t sustain anything.
We make our profit as a grower. We operate our own packinghouse because it’s the most cost efficient way to get our fruit to market.
Today, 30% of the fruit we pack and sell belongs to our affiliated grower-partners, helping us to provide lemons to our customers every day of the year. Nevertheless, we still don’t have enough fruit (Imagine telling a friend of 40 years that you can’t accept his order at a top price-not fun!)
Limoneira is always looking for quality Lemon growers to help us supply more fruit to our customers. In return, we offer competitive packing and marketing fees, guidance and assistance in Food Safety Certification (Primus GFS and Global GAP), help with harvesting and consistently high profits. And, your fruit will travel to over 30 countries, as well as the USA, helping to provide fresh Vitaman C to a growing and often undernourished world.
Making an honest profit while doing the right thing is what sustainability is all about.
