Lemons
Limoneira is one of the largest lemon producers in North America. In its 130 years of operation, the Company has introduced a number of innovations that have added significantly to the industry such as improved storage methods and sophisticated harvest practices and equipment. In the 1940’s, Limoneira developed the Limco 8A (bred in Limoneira’s Olivelands 8-A orchard), a new lemon variety that proved more resistant to disease, yielded more fruit, was high in quality and maintained a strong shelf life. This variety remains one of the standard bearers for lemon production throughout the world.
Sometimes, the old ways are the best ways. Limoneira’s Mediterranean style packing house built in the 1920’s received recognition for its classic design from the Southern California Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in the early twentieth century. After all these years, it still operates at peak performance.
With our vertical integration from tree to plate, we are able to achieve efficiencies through all parts of the distribution chain, resulting in the highest quality and service possible for our customers. Our global marketing connections and harvesting, packing and quality control capabilities ensure that the customer in Tokyo enjoying our lemons in a delicious fish recipe will be as happy as our North American customer enjoying a refreshing glass of lemonade made with quality Limoneira lemons.

PINK LEMONS
Limoneira pink lemons feature a striped to rose blush exterior and a pink interior. They contain lycopene, a naturally occurring compound also found in other fruits and vegetables such as pink grapefruit. They add a special taste and visual appearance to any drink, cocktail or recipe.
Limoneira’s pink lemons are a special hybrid variety with interior flesh that is light to medium pink that becomes more intense as the fruit ripens. The lemons offer a tangy taste that adds just the right zip to great recipes and beverages. Green and cream stripes cover the exterior of younger pinks that fade to a rose blush as the fruit matures. Oranges
While primarily known for lemons, Limoneira has always offered high-quality oranges. In the Company’s early days, Valencias were primarily grown for export to Pacific Rim countries. As world consumption patterns changed towards year-round availability of seedless navels, Limoneira added navels in the mid 1990’s. Limoneira focuses on high-quality late season Navels and Valencias primarily
for export to Pacific Rim countires. Such niche marketing examples have driven the companies to ever higher levels of orange profitability. Limoneira continues to believe in the credibility and viability of the California orange industry and its position as a world supplier. Nothing compares with fresh premium oranges that have been bathed in warm California sunshine.

BLOOD ORANGES
Blood Oranges have a crimson, almost blood colored flesh. The blood orange is a hybrid between the pummelo and the tangerine; its distinctive dark flesh color is due to the presence of anthocyanins, a family of antioxidant pigments common to many flowers and fruit, but uncommon in citrus fruit. Blood oranges have a unique flavor profile compared to other oranges, being distinctly raspberry-like in addition to the usual citrus notes.

Other Citrus
A few decades ago, in response to an ever-changing marketplace, the Limoneira Company embarked on an aggressive search for alternative specialty citrus varieties that would appeal to changing North American and worldwide tastes. Limoneira has become a leader in the niche production and sales of varieties
such as Star Ruby Grapefruit, Pummelos, and Limes. The company oversees 100s of acres of these specialty crops and carefully monitors their market. We believe that these products will continue to increase in popularity and will, in a few short years, create a citrus rainbow of colors and flavors.
STAR RUBY GRAPEFRUIT
Compared to other grapefruit varieties, the Star Ruby variety takes more skill to grow. This varietal has an attractive red blush interior and a smooth yellow exterior.

Avocados
Limoneira avocados act as a nutrient booster by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha-and beta-carotene. Avocados are packed with 20 vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and the “good” (monounsaturated) fats, which make them flavorful and healthy to eat. In fact, avocados have been proven to lower cholesterol.
Limoneira, with 1,000 acres in production, is one of the largest avocado growers in the United States. With over a half century of growing avocadoes, the Company has developed considerable expertise producing, harvesting, marketing and selling this increasingly popular product.
During the last 60 years, the Company has seen the avocado’s transition from a single specialty fruit to an array of 10 variety types ranging from green-skinned Zutanos to the predominant black- skinned Haas. To better compete globally, Limoneira has taken the important step of dense planting (4 times the trees per acre versus traditional plantings) and mulching to enable the trees to better acclimate to non-tropical climates. These sustainable practices enable Limoneira to tread lightly on the land.
AVOCADOS
Greenish yellow to bright yellow interior when ripe and buttery in consistency.
