We LOVE popsicles at our house! I don’t know about you, but for our family, it is the perfect cool down treat after enjoying an amazing time outside in the sun. The problem with most store-bought popsicles is that they are packed with sugar and processed ingredients. Most “flavors” are artificial or only contain a small percentage of fruit. I was feeling frustrated when trying to find some that were healthy and delicious, which is why I decided to try and make my own! I found that making them homemade is easy, fun and healthy!
These Citrus Layered Popsicles are made solely with fruit juice making them the perfect sweet and nutritious treat for kiddos and adults! Layered with oranges and grapefruit for a beautiful and memorable popsicle to enjoy all summer long!
HEALTH BENEFITS OF POPSICLE INGREDIENTS
GRAPEFRUIT
Grapefruit is low in calories, but high in water making it a great hydrating fruit! It also contains 2g of fiber, which is beneficial for fullness as well as digestive health! One important antioxidant found in grapefruit is beta-carotene. This is converted into vitamin A within the body and may help was disease prevention for heart disease, macular degeneration and cancer.
ORANGES
Most of us know that oranges are rich in vitamin C, which is great for immunity. But there are so many other incredible health benefits of this vitamin within the body. It helps your body make collagen, which is essential for skin health. It also aids the body in absorbing non-heme iron, which is great for anemia prevention. Vitamin C fights free radicals, which can damage your cells and lead to chronic diseases such as cancer.
